Gun violence has escalated dramatically in Seattle over the last several months, including the shooting and killing of innocent bystanders over the last few weeks. This morning, 2 were killed and 3 injured in a shooting a Cafe Racer in Seattle’s Roosevelt/University District neighborhood, and almost simultaneously, a woman was shot during what appears to be a carjacking near downtown, as of this writing, her condition is unknown. Update 12:14 pm: The woman shot during the carjacking has been confirmed dead. Today alone now 3 killed and 3 injured.
Our city is on edge right now. Please pray with me for peace for Seattle.
Psalm 122 is a prayer of peace for Jerusalem. I think it’s appropriate to use it as a guide to pray for the peace of Seattle right now:
Psalm 122:6-9:
6 Pray for the peace of Seattle. Say,
”May those who love you be secure.
7 May there be peace inside your walls.
May your people be kept safe.”
8 I’m concerned for my family and friends.
So I say to Seattle, “May you enjoy peace.”
9 I’m concerned about the house of the Lord our God.
So I pray that things will go well with Seattle.
